This time, we at Hongik Tidings talked about our desired endings of the films. Beware of the spoilers! If you want to watch one of the movies we talked about, you’d better watch it first and then read this article. If you have already watched it, enjoy the different endings that we have imagined!

The Hunger Games

If I could change the ending of the last movie of The Hunger Games, Mockingjay, I would want to switch to the development that the happy ending of Katniss and Peeta was all a dream. In fact, Katniss is caught by the Capitol and brainwashed. I used to like a happy ending, but I think it's okay to choose a hopeless ending this time.

One Day

I really hated it when Emma died in an accident just after Emma and Dexter finally got together in the movie. I mean, they went through all the hard times and they had just started being happy loving each other. I was so mad when she got killed for the surprising twist, which was actually ridiculous. They could have been happy together for the rest of their lives. If I could change the ending, I would not get rid of Emma in the end. I believe in that way the film would have been much better.

The Harry Potter series

Harry Potter is one of the most beloved pieces of work in the movie industry. Even though not all people have watched the movies, all of us know who Harry Potter is. According to the survey of “Which character from Harry Potter do you like the most?” by pottermore, a fan website of “Harry Potter”, Professor Snape was ranked first. If I were to change the ending of the “Harry Potter” series, since the owner of Elder Wand was Snape before Harry disarmed him, he could have killed Voldemort instead of dying. As Snape was the most tragic character in the series, I wanted him to be happy after all, not sacrificing everything for his first love and then vanishing like mirage.

The Nun

If I could, I would choose to change the ending of the movie The Nun. Nothing much to change though, I would just want to save one character’s life: Frenchie’s. Everything in the movie was OK until our tragic hero, Frenchie, abruptly died in the end. I personally think that his death was nothing but useless. I mean, seriously? Did you really have to kill the poor guy by an evil possession after all he had done to save the helpless pastor and wannabe-nun? If the director wanted to make somebody die in the movie, it should’ve been them, not a nice civilian who just wanted to lend a hand.

Atonement

If I could change a movie’s story, I’d like to make a happy ending of the movie Atonement. The movie is about a tragic love which couldn't be realized because of a girl’s lies. In the movie, the girl regrets her stupid act after becoming an adult, but it was too late, because the lovers had already died. I felt a sense of loss, anger and sadness while watching the movie. It gave the message that a small mistake can create a very bad result and that life doesn’t always work your way, but I would let the lovers live happily together at the end of their lives.
