In 2019, Hongik University faces several changes on campus. The university is improving its appearance and system. These changes are not easy to detect, so many students may miss this important information. Especially, as freshmen feel uncertain about their life in the university, this section can help them to be informed of the school.
Part 1. About Retaking Lectures.
This system starts gradually from this year and will be completely restructured in 2020.

The abandonment of credits |
When the class students want to retake disappears, they can’t retake that class. Therefore, they cannot improve that grade. |
When you decide to retake a class, sometimes that course vanishes without any replacement. In this case, students can delete that grade. This can be used from 2019. |

The retake of courses |
-The maximum grade students can get is a B+ when they retake classes.
-Regardless of the number of times they take the class, every student in a class is in the same grade pool. |
-Students can get an A+, but they can retake only one course per semester. Students on the register are eligible for this from 2020. Freshmen fit right into it from 2019, but they are eligible the same when they want to retake it in 2019.
- Students who take the course again are endowed same grade ratio, but this ratio is within the retake group, and does not include students who take the class for the first time. |
*Seasonal Class
It is similar to current students’ regular semester. In 2019, students can take six credits and their maximum score is B+. Freshmen of this year also retake one course and are eligible in the same way until this year. Originally, their maximum grade is a B+. After changes, they can get an A+ like other students who take the class for the first time.
*Cyber Lecture
From 2019, regardless of the major, 28 credits can be taken under the 2015 freshmen. 26 credits are allowed from the Class of 2016.
Part2. Construction
- Building T (for Department of Engineering) has been renovated. Specifically, the entrance has been repaired. As Building T is used as a studying place for Hongik students, the dangerous and broken parts should be repaired for the new semester.
- Some parts of Dormitory 2 have also been reconstructed. Even though this building is almost new, there are some problems with the elevators, there is a shortage of rooms, and so on.
- Building B (for management major) has been remodeled. As A, B, C, and D buildings are connected, it is hard to start remodeling their facilities separately. However, Building B needed to be renovated urgently, so these changes are ongoing now.
Hongik University is trying bold changes in its campus. These days, the administration is investing in its appearance rather than before. As a result, the freshmen of 2019 can see the alterations at the university. In addition, there are lots of plans to be accomplished such as Art-design Valley, LA campus, and the remodeling of every old building. The university is trying its best for students by fulfilling its promises to make Hongik University better than ever.
