I always thought about having a tarot reading but hadn’t had the chance to do it. To write for the Tidings March small talk section, I thought for a little while, to find what part of my life to focus on. As I had worries about my major, I asked some questions about it, such as, “Will I get more used to this major next year?” The result was positive. The cards said the major goes well with me and I should spend more time studying, and so on. Well, luck in my studies depends on how hard I try. I know that and as I don’t really trust the tarot reading, the result seems too obvious to me. However, whether I believe this or not, I feel more confident about 2020.

Han Seung-hyeon

The moment I stepped in, the fortune teller asked me how old I am. I told her I just turned 22, and she said I have a stable and mature atmosphere compared to others at the same age. She also guessed my major as a writer or an artist by my look. I don’t believe in this fortunetelling stuff, but still I was quite surprised by the first few lines she said as I took a seat. I heard about my love fortune in the near future, and the result was that I was to get a boyfriend in February. Well, not a bad result, but I thought this could harden my distrust in tarot if it turns out to be untrue! Most of all, I believe that what is most important in one’s life is not a foretold luck or fate, but the person’s will and beliefs. So, if I don’t meet a man in February, then my fate as predicted by tarot would be changed.

Han Suji

Although I don’t completely believe the result of the tarot, I often do tarot readings just for fun. This time, I asked about my future. As I am going to take an important test, I wanted to know if I will do well on it. The tarot reader said that I would achieve my dream through the test, but it would take some time. The result also showed that I would cultivate my ability for the time being. Through this tarot reading, my mind became satisfied because of the hopeful result that I wanted to hear. Regardless of the positive result I got, my thought about luck has not been changed. Still, I think luck is a coincidence. But one thing I learned from this tarot reading is that the presence of luck itself can be emotionally helpful to someone and an expectancy that luck will come someday makes people happy.

I returned to university after finishing my military service. I worried about adapting to university life and my grades. I told the tarot reader about my worries. She said that I will adapt to university life very well, so don’t worry about it. Also, she said that my grades will be good, but not great as compared to my expectation. There will be a hardship to distract my attention, so if I overcome it, I can get good grades.

There were several topics, such as love, academy, career, and health. I asked the card reader about my ‘love’ topic. First, I picked three cards randomly and then the reader told me about my past briefly and whether I could meet someone to love in the next three months. She said that I’m going to meet someone in the next month. After that, she told me to pick one card at a time and ask a yes-or-no question each time. It resulted that the person is not older than me, is one of the people I already know, is good looking, and studies in a similar field as me (I study design). I really hope what she told me comes into reality, except for the point that the person is one of the people I already know.

Song Hojae

This was my first tarot card experience, as I didn’t believe in fortunetelling before. I’ve always thought one’s future is built upon his constant effort. Among the twelve cards that foretold my 2020 overall luck, three of them indicated that I will find my love this year. Hearing this, I started to anticipate whom my love will be. I will let you readers know whether I succeeded to be in a relationship in the May Tidings issue.
