Have you ever thought about a life with a twin sister or brother who looks just like you? Since I was a little kid, I have thought about that. My twin sister would perform tasks, take exams or show up for class attendance checks. Would it really work without getting caught by others? I think every person has thought about this at least once. Now I want to share different stories about the idea of being a twin from members of the Tidings family.

SooAh Lee: For me, it might be a little bit creepy to have a twin sister. But, if I had a twin, I would check my twin’s abilities. Would she know what’s happening to me without any communication? In movies and dramas, twins know each other’s condition well. So, they can help each other when the other is in danger. I would want to know what would my sister do if I was in danger. Also, it would be really fun to have a twin sister and share all the things that I couldn’t tell other people.

Hojae Song: If I was a twin and had an older or younger brother who had similar hobbies and interests, I would be truly grateful to my parents for giving me a companion in my life. I have hobbies like hiking and traveling, as well as reading books or watching movies and I don’t have many friends my age who I can hang out with all the time. Of course, I need to deal with some disadvantages as well, such as people thinking I am my brother for decades. Being a twin definitely would have some merits compared to always being scolded by my parents as the firstborn son of the family.

Junyoung Heo: If I was a twin, I would like to trick my parents. To do that I must be a monozygotic twin. Most of my friends have a hard time distinguishing twins, but most parents do not. Parents know detailed differences between their twins and can easily distinguish them. So, my final goal would be to trick my parents. When I was young, I thought the movie characters ‘Fred Weasley’ and ‘George Weasley’ from Harry Potter were really attractive. I wanted to have a twin brother like they had. They were always together and looked the same, even their parents had a hard time distinguishing them. So, my role model for twin brothers are ‘Fred and George Weasley’. Cooperating with my twin, we will trick our parents! It will be fun.

Seoyoung Choi: If I had a twin sister perhaps… well I have never thought of being a twin. But at first thought I think it would be great for some reasons: I could prank my friends if I really look exactly alike with my twin, I could see what I look like through another my twin's eye, and finally I could be the best friend with my twin because she would definitely be the same age as me. However, there could be some distress from being a twin, that I have heard twins experience: friends who can’t recognize the differences between them and then basically treat the twins as one person. This would be a stressful thing because clearly my twin and I would be different people. We would think differently, we would like different things and so on. Some people could tease us about looking same and some might compare and judge who is better. There could always be downsides to everything, so I guess being a twin would be great. Having a best friend for my entire life and having a person to rely on, to be by my side, would make it wonderful to be a twin.

Suji Han: If I had a twin, I would be very satisfied with my twin sister or brother. I think having a twin would be the same as having a soulmate who can understand me and share my emotions. I heard that twins can sense each other’s feelings well. It would be good to have a person who knows how I feel. Best of all, the most exciting thing about twins is that even parents sometimes have a hard time to distinguish their daughters in the case of identical twins. This aspect could be useful when playing a prank on someone. Also, twins being the same age might not undergo an unfair parental situation and would be treated fairly if they fight with each other. In my case, I have a younger sister and a younger brother. Since I am the oldest, I always get scolded by my parents when I fight with my sister and brother. This treatment was very unfair to me and I still have some resentment toward my sister and brother.

Seung-Hyeon Han: Since I already have two siblings, one older and the other younger, I would wish to have someone more than a sibling. If I have a twin sibling, I hope we would look very much alike, so that people would notice the fact that we are twins at a very quick glance. The thing about twins, having similar looks and, in some cases, nearly identical, allow them to have special experiences from the time they realize how alike they look to others. They are called and grouped together often, and as a result, they would probably grow up having a dual identity about themselves. For me, if I were a twin, I would try my best to be the opposite of my sibling in order to find myself. Although, twins usually inherit common traits, by trying out different things, we can experience more, having a better chance to discover and show our individuality. Even though I am not a twin, I struggle to find out who I really am and go against the thoughts of the majority. So, I think my twin and I would be the same in trying to get away from the fact that we are twins, and the only thing that we would have left in common would be our appearance. Two people with a similar appearance, but with different thoughts, actions and jobs!
