Blue Walk

The ocean is as mysterious as the universe. I often spend my free hours watching marvelous documentaries of marine life that take several years to be produced. So, for a person like me, an aquarium is a place where I can reach the deepest part of the ocean. I visited two large aquariums in Korea. I think this perfectly fits the keyword ¡°blue¡± of this issue.

Lotte World Aquarium
This is the largest aquarium in Seoul. Inside, sea creatures are displayed in various zones, such as Nature Zone, Rainforest River, Sea Lion Zone, The Ocean, Beluga Zone, Coral Reef Garden, and Polar Zone. It was pleasant because there weren't many people, but on the other hand, it wasn't as large as its title ¡°largest in Seoul¡± seemed it would be. It was too bad that the ocean tank had only small sharks and stingrays. But still, I think it was a good walk in Seoul.

Yeosu ¡°Aqua Planet¡±

What's unique is that unlike other aquariums where the display space is divided into several zones, this one had three display sections: Ocean Life, Marine Life, and Aqua Forest. I liked it, because it divided several creatures clearly into the three sections: big creatures like sharks, rays, and belugas in Ocean Life, other small fish in Marine Life, and land turtles and aquatic creatures, such as frogs and catfish, in Aqua Forest. As Yeosu faces the ocean, it seems that there were more diverse and large creatures than in the other aquarium I visited. It was worth the admission fee, and if I go south again, I'm very willing for another visit! Sea creatures are always fascinating to see.
