Looking for reader

To select a reader to interview, I contacted those who sent their answers regarding our quiz in the September magazine and Trung kindly responded that he was willing to give an interview. I asked him a few questions and here is the result:

Q1: Can you tell us about yourself please?

A1: Hello, my name is Trung, from Vietnam. I major in engineering and AI at Hongik University. It has been about 8 months since I came here. I like everything so far. The weather here is nice as well. About my hobby, when I have free time, I usually take a walk around the Han River.

Q2: Why did you decide to give an interview to the Hongik Tidings?

A2: Actually, I was just curious how it would be. I am a very friendly and talkative person. Therefore, I thought that it would be a good opportunity to meet new people. I also thought I could give some feedback as a reader for the HT¡¯s development.

Q3: Do you have a special reason why you started reading the Hongik Tidings magazine, and what makes you keep reading it?

A4: Because it is the only magazine I can read in Hongik University! Since I cannot speak Korean well, it is hard for me to understand other magazines or newspapers. Then I found the HT magazine which is written in English. It also enables me to learn something new, which makes me keep reading the magazine. For instance, I have read the article "How to Surf" and as a person who has never experienced surfing before, I could have a second-hand experience by reading it, and it was fun to read, indeed.

Q4: What was the most memorable article that you enjoyed reading?

A4: It was an article about a student from Hongik University who committed suicide during his military service. I saw a memorial event held during the summer at the campus but I actually did not know what exactly it was about at that time. It was only after I read the article that I got to know such a tragedy happened and if I had not read the article, I would never have known what happened and what I had seen.

Q5: Is there any section or topic you would like the HT to cover?

A5: I think it would be great if you had a job section and informed of some of job opportunities. I know that lots of job opportunities are posted and promoted in the campus but I cannot really understand even if I want to. Besides the job announcement, in this section I believe I would like to see some explanation for career directions related to majors. For instance, I study engineering, so it would be really helpful if you informed me about which career I can possibly have in the future in Korea. Also, I would like to be informed about school clubs' activities or any incoming events or programs like the WOW Festival in school. As a student from abroad, it is quite hard to get this information. I hope that helping foreign students to get more adjusted to the university life by giving information which we cannot easily get would be another goal of the HT.

Q6: Lastly, is there anything you want to say?

A6: I think I will keep reading the Hongik Tidings. I also hope that you guys have many more readers! Plus, thank you for being warm to me during the interview today.
